Lumière
Atelier

Where light becomes legacy. Bespoke stained glass for spaces that demand the extraordinary.

Descend

A century of light,
refined to its essence

In the cobblestoned alcoves of Lyon's Croix-Rousse, where the Rhône casts its morning reflections, Lumière Atelier has devoted four generations to alchemy of the most ancient kind: the marriage of light and colour.

We do not merely make stained glass. We distill centuries of cathedral craft, Art Nouveau ambition, and contemporary precision into architectural installations that transform space into experience. Every commission is a conversation with light itself—studied, understood, and ultimately, mastered.

Our work lives in the great museums of Europe, the private sanctuaries of those who understand that true luxury is measured not in gold or marble, but in how a room breathes when the afternoon sun touches it.

From conception
to illumination

I

Dialogue

We begin by understanding not your space, but the intent of that space. What emotion should light evoke at 4 PM in winter? What narrative should the window tell?

II

Design

Our master designers create 1:1 scale cartoons—full-size drawings that map every fragment. We study your building's light at different hours, seasons, and angles.

III

Craft

Up to six weeks of assembly using only hand-cut crystal, 24k gold-foil detailing, and lead cames forged in-house. No two pieces are identical.

IV

Installation

Our team installs with surgical precision, calibrating the final piece against your building's light. The installation is the final act of creation.

Commissions
that changed their spaces forever

"Layers of ultramarine and lapis lazuli creating depth within depth—a modern meditation on the blue that defined centuries of French royal decoration."

Prisme Nocturne

Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris | 2024

"A geometric abstraction using ruby, amethyst, and diamond-clear crystal that refracts the museum's gallery lighting into shifting patterns across the gallery floor."

La Rose de Lyon

Four Seasons Hotel, Lyon | 2025

"A contemporary interpretation of Lyon's rose window tradition, using twenty-four distinct shades of pink and magenta to celebrate the city's silk heritage in the hotel's penthouse atrium."

The commission
begins with a conversation

We accept no more than eight commissions annually. Each begins with a meeting in our Lyon atelier, where we discuss your space, your vision, and the light that moves through it.

Our atelier is located in the historic silk-weaving district of Croix-Rousse. The room where we meet has witnessed four generations of conversations that became windows, walls, and wonder.
